According to the university’s management, conveyed through its Public Relations Officer, Abiodun Olanrewaju, a nine-year-old male lion launched a fatal attack on Mr. Olawuyi, causing severe injuries despite the immediate response of other staff members present. Despite their courageous attempts to rescue him, the injuries proved fatal.<\/p>\n
In a statement, the university expressed profound grief over the untimely demise of Mr. Olabode Olawuyi, who had served as the head of the Zoological Garden for over a decade. Vice Chancellor Prof. Simeon Bamire and the management team halted their activities to conduct an immediate assessment upon receiving the distressing news. Regrettably, all first aid and medical interventions were unsuccessful.<\/p>\n
In response to the tragedy, the aggressive lion responsible for the attack was euthanized to prevent any further potential harm. The university acknowledged that Mr. Olawuyi had been caring for the lions since their birth on campus approximately nine years ago, intensifying the sorrow surrounding the incident.<\/p>\n
