The conference, themed &#8216;Enhancing Innovations and Technologies for Sustainable Transportation: Tackling the Energy Challenges,&#8217; provided a platform for Governor Abiodun to showcase Ogun State&#8217;s strides in adopting alternative energy sources for transportation.<\/p>\n<p>Represented by the Commissioner for Transportation, Engr. Oluenga Dairo, the governor acknowledged the national energy challenges arising from the removal of fuel subsidies. He underscored Ogun State&#8217;s proactive approach, having rolled out Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) compliant vehicles even before the Federal Government&#8217;s CNG project. This initiative aims to support environmental sustainability, combat global warming, and alleviate transportation burdens on the public.<\/p>\n<p>Governor Abiodun revealed plans for further integration of alternative energy sources, including electric trucks and motorbikes, into the state&#8217;s transportation system. The Multi-Modal Transport Master Plan was highlighted for creating opportunities for residents and travelers, fostering business development with a Cargo Airport at Iperu and an Inland Dry Port at Papalanto.<\/p>\n<p>The governor urged conference delegates to leverage cross-fertilization of ideas, innovations, and technologies to develop solutions for the nation&#8217;s energy crisis. He envisioned that, by the end of the conference, states across the country would contribute to a new model addressing the energy challenges, ultimately benefiting the entire nation.<\/p>\n<p>The Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Transportation, Mr. Michael Oloruntola, expressed gratitude to Ogun State for hosting the conference, emphasizing the symbolic choice of Abeokuta due to its cultural and historical significance. Oloruntola highlighted the conference&#8217;s focus on innovative technologies prioritizing affordability, accessibility, safety, security, and environmental sustainability. He urged participants to steer discussions towards sustainable transport development, contributing to the welfare of Nigerians, creating job opportunities, and stimulating economic growth.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. AbdulWaheed Olanloye, the Permanent Secretary of Ogun State Ministry of Transportation, echoed the urgency of embracing innovative technologies to address energy challenges in the transportation sector.
