We don’t intend to do so. We won’t also deploy any to other volatile communities.” He reassured that only four members were serving in Akpabuyo LGA, which had experienced volatility, and they were assigned to security agencies, ensuring their safety.

Regarding deployments to coastal areas, Andrew noted, “We don’t compel them to go to riverine communities, especially those of them that have a phobia for rivers.” He highlighted efforts to sensitize corps members about the benefits available in rural communities.

Providing an update on the kidnapped Akwa Ibom State corps members en route to Sokoto State, Andrew mentioned ongoing releases and efforts by the NYSC management team. He urged state government and partners to enhance facilities at the Obubra Orientation Camp, citing the need for infrastructure improvements.

Andrew acknowledged the camp’s security but emphasized the necessity of addressing challenges like the lack of electricity in the host community, necessitating the use of generators and incurring high diesel costs.
