The Peace In South-East Project (PISE-P) and the Nigerian Communications Satellite Limited (NIGCOMSAT) have joined forces to inaugurate Community Enterprise Digital Hubs across the South-East region of Nigeria. This groundbreaking initiative, unveiled through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing, underscores the commitment to leveraging technology for social advancement and economic empowerment.<\/p>\n

The brainchild of the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, PISE-P has emerged as a catalyst for peacebuilding and socio-economic development in the South-East region. Addressing the pressing challenges of unemployment, inflation, and security threats, the initiative seeks to harness the transformative potential of digital connectivity.<\/p>\n

At the heart of the initiative lies the establishment of Community Enterprise Digital Hubs, designed to bridge the digital gap in remote and underserved areas. Leveraging NIGCOMSAT’s cutting-edge satellite technology, these hubs will offer reliable and affordable connectivity, facilitating access to essential services such as telemedicine, education, and financial solutions.<\/p>\n

In his keynote address, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu underscored the imperative of addressing the socio-economic challenges facing the South-East region. Emphasizing the role of digital empowerment in promoting inclusion and reducing disparities, he hailed the collaboration with NIGCOMSAT as a pivotal step towards realizing the region’s untapped potential.<\/p>\n

The initiative aligns closely with the Renewed Hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, particularly in its emphasis on job creation and digital economy. Kalu emphasized the need for concerted efforts from government agencies, non-governmental organizations, and individuals to support PISE-P in its mission of fostering peace and development.<\/p>\n

The Managing Director of NIGCOMSAT, Mrs. Jane Nkechi Egerton-Idehen, reiterated the organization’s commitment to promoting peace and security through innovative initiatives. The pilot phase of the Community Enterprise Digital Hubs will commence in five locations across the South-East, marking a significant milestone in the journey towards digital empowerment and inclusive development.<\/p>\n

The event also witnessed commendations for the proactive efforts of the South-East Governors in ensuring security and peace in the region. Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu expressed gratitude for their unwavering support and called for continued collaboration to realize the shared vision of a peaceful and prosperous South-East.<\/p>\n
