The motion titled, \u201cNeed to immortalise former Speaker, Late Ghali Na\u2019Abba by naming the National Assembly Service Commission building after him,\u201d aims to commemorate Na\u2019Abba\u2019s significant contributions.<\/p>\n<p>Na\u2019Abba\u2019s political journey began during his time as a student at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, where he actively participated in the People\u2019s Redemption Party founded by Mallam Aminu Kano during the Second Republic. Upon the advent of the Fourth Republic in 1999, Na\u2019Abba was elected as a member of the House of Representatives, marking the start of his impactful legislative career.<\/p>\n<p>During his tenure as Speaker of the House of Representatives from 1999 to 2003, Na\u2019Abba distinguished himself through his bold and dynamic leadership style. He championed legislative independence and initiated reforms aimed at strengthening the institution. Notable among his achievements were his rigorous scrutiny of the budget framework, enhancement of House Committees, promotion of inclusivity and participatory governance, and his commitment to regulating debates on critical national issues.<\/p>\n<p>In light of Na\u2019Abba\u2019s remarkable legacy, Madaki proposed the naming of the National Assembly Service Commission Building after him as a fitting tribute.
