This initiative, aimed at fostering sustainable energy solutions, represents a significant stride in the collaborative efforts between the two nations.<\/p>\n
The Nigerian solar marketplace, launched in November through a joint effort between the Netherlands and its partners, stands as a cornerstone of Dutch commitment to promoting renewable energy adoption and advancing sustainable trade and development in Nigeria.<\/p>\n
Operating as a trusted platform, the solar marketplace facilitates trade and investment in Nigeria’s solar sector, acting as a hub for matchmaking and providing resources to support stakeholders, including sellers, buyers, project managers, investors, and knowledge partners.<\/p>\n
In a ceremony attended by esteemed dignitaries such as His Imperial Majesty, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi (\u1eccj\u00e1j\u00e1 II), and representatives from the Netherlands Consulate, the solar marketplace advisory board was officially inaugurated. The event symbolizes a significant step forward in the ongoing endeavors to promote sustainable energy solutions in Nigeria.<\/p>\n
Geoffrey van Leeuwen, the Dutch Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation, highlighted the importance of the initiative, stating, \u201cThis significant milestone demonstrates our continued commitment to fostering collaboration and innovation in the renewable energy sector.”<\/p>\n
He further emphasized, \u201cBy bringing together top minds from the renewable energy sector in Nigeria, we aim to accelerate the adoption of solar technologies, foster innovation, and create tangible impact in Nigeria\u2019s energy landscape.\u201d<\/p>\n
Comprising nine esteemed experts and industry leaders in Nigeria, the solar marketplace advisory board will play a pivotal role in guiding the strategic direction and implementation of the initiative. With diverse backgrounds and extensive experience in renewable energy, the advisory board members are poised to offer invaluable insights and recommendations to drive the success of the initiative.<\/p>\n
Yusuf Umar, program lead of the Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority (NSIA) renewable energy platform, stressed the need for convergence to propel the renewable space in the country, highlighting the solar marketplace’s role in achieving this objective.<\/p>\n
Femi Adeyemo, founder of Arnergy and a member of the advisory board, emphasized the necessity to catalyze investments in renewables, noting that Nigerian businesses can no longer sustainably operate with diesel.<\/p>\n
Frank Rogers, director of operations at Independent Energy BV, underlined the economic and business rationale for accelerating sustainable energy solutions in Nigeria, particularly in driving rural electrification.<\/p>\n
Other members of the solar marketplace advisory board include Edwin van Veenhuizeen of Invest International, Ayo Ademilua, president of the Renewable Energy Association of Nigeria, and Farouk Bello, manager at the Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet.
