The government of Kogi State, under the reigns of Usman Ododo, yesterday said no money was missing from the state\u2019s treasury. Instead, it said\u00a0the state fund was used for its development during the tenure of former Governor Yahaya Bello.<\/p>\n
The government alleged that some people with selfish and political undertone who were hell-bent on tarnishing the image of the former governor are using some elements within the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to achieve their purpose.<\/p>\n
The government said the attempt to join the former governor into an ongoing suit is faulty, mischievous and has no basis.<\/p>\n
In a statement by Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo, the government said: \u201cThe fact that the EFCC, in charge No. FHC\/ABJ\/CR\/550\/2022: FRN V. 1. Ali Bello 2. Dauda Suleiman, currently pending before\u00a0Justice J.K. Omotosho of the Federal High Court, Abuja Division further amended the \u2018Amended Charge\u2019 to include in the count, the name of\u00a0Yahaya Bello, describing him as being \u201cat large\u201d, is ridiculous, laughable and portrays the EFCC as an agency infested with persons whose intents disagree with the noble intention of Mr. President to defeat corruption.<\/p>\n
\u201cBeing \u2018at large\u2019 of course means that a person is evading arrest or is on the run and cannot be found after an attempt to arrest.<\/p>\n
\u201cFor the sake of clarity, the original charge is against Ali Bello and Dauda Suleiman, Ali\u2019s associate. The offence which\u00a0Yahaya Bello is alleged to have committed upon which he has been named in the count is conspiracy to convert\u00a0 N80,246,470,089.88 , which offence is said to have occurred on or about September 2015 in Abuja. His co-conspirators according to the Count are Abdulsalami Hudu (Kogi State Government House Cashier) described as being \u2018at large\u2019 too, Ali Bello and Dauda Suleiman.<\/p>\n
