Former Nigerian international, Mikel Obi has predicted that the final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations will be played between the Super Eagles and Ivory Coast on February 11.<\/p>\n
The former Chelsea star, stated that Nigeria will overcome Bafana Bafana of South Africa in the semi-final while Ivory will edge DR Congo.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think so. I was thinking about it the other day and I was thinking that we managed to beat them in the group stage and they were on the verge of leaving, the tournament and all of a sudden you know, they are back in it and now.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey have got a wind with them and now are playing prettily okay but not so well, but they have started to win games and now if they can manage to get to the final, who knows?\u201d<\/p>\n
He also noted that Super Eagles goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali has managed to become the talk of the tournament, so far, due to his impressive displays for Nigeria.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen you look through the whole team everybody has been absolutely superb, starting from the goalkeeper which is something I talked about before the tournament. I said one position we need to make sure we sort out is the goalkeeping position and we\u2019ve managed to do that,\u201d Obi Mikel said on The Obi One Podcast.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe\u2019s based in Africa and he\u2019s managed to become the talk of the tournament, he\u2019s become one of the favourites for the Nigerian fans. He\u2019s put in very good performances.<\/p>\n
