Gusau stressed that relying solely on the police to patrol and control such a vast and intricate nation is impractical. He urged a reevaluation of the security strategy, highlighting the pressing need for community involvement and a collective responsibility for safeguarding the nation. The prevailing challenges, including terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, armed robbery, organized crime, drug trafficking, human trafficking, and cultism, necessitate a holistic and collaborative approach.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Chief Olabode George, during a press conference in Lagos, expressed deep concern over Nigeria being on the verge of total collapse. Recent incidents, such as the abduction of schoolchildren and the killing of monarchs in the state, underscore the urgency of addressing the security crisis. George called for the arming of local security outfits like Amotekun in the South-West, emphasizing the need for sophisticated weapons to combat kidnappers effectively.<\/p>\n
