Speaking at a public engagement on youth, religion, and the fight against corruption, Tinubu criticized the &#8220;mislabelling and blanket stereotyping&#8221; of Nigeria as a country with the highest prevalence of cybercrime.<\/p>\n<p>During the event at Yar\u2019Adua Centre, Abuja, organized by the EFCC, Tinubu assured the agency of the government&#8217;s support in addressing digital offenses. He emphasized the importance of recognizing the lawful efforts of the EFCC in combating fraud for the overall well-being of society.<\/p>\n<p>Tinubu expressed concern about the unjust association of internet crimes with the entire Nigerian populace without statistical proof. He asserted that Nigerians are hardworking citizens making significant contributions globally, across various fields, and rejected the misrepresentation that undermines the majority upholding principles of integrity and diligence.<\/p>\n<p>In his speech titled &#8216;Youth, Religion, and Our Battle Against Corruption: A Call to Action,&#8217; Tinubu acknowledged the global nature of cybercrimes and praised the EFCC for being a moral compass in confronting corruption. He also encouraged Nigerian youths to explore lawful opportunities for enterprise, highlighting the government&#8217;s initiative to establish a Students Loan Board starting in January.<\/p>\n<p>The EFCC&#8217;s Inter-Faith and Fraud Risk Assessment Projects were commended by Tinubu for recognizing religion as a tool for ethical reformation. He urged religious leaders to guide their communities in championing the anti-corruption cause.<\/p>\n<p>Chairman of EFCC, Mr Ola Olukoyede, emphasized the importance of engaging critical stakeholders in the fight against corruption through the launch of interfaith manuals and the Fraud Risk Assessment Project for MDAs. He expressed concern about the involvement of youths and religious organizations in illicit activities, urging leaders to propagate messages promoting integrity, honesty, and hard work.<\/p>\n<p>The Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, stressed the need for preventive measures in the renewed fight against corruption. Several prominent figures, including the President of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Sultan of Sokoto, and Ooni of Ife, commended President Tinubu and the EFCC for their commitment to battling corruption.
