The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State, Mr. Augustine Agada, has faced suspension by the party’s leadership in his ward, Ehaje Ward 1, Owukpa, Ogbadibo Local Government Area. The decision follows allegations of anti-party activities leveled against Agada by Comrade Dan Onjeh, the party’s 2023 Senatorial candidate for Benue Zone C.<\/p>\n
Onjeh’s petition to the National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, claimed that Agada had financially supported candidates from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) during the last election, substantiated by evidence of alleged bank transactions involving Agada and PDP members.<\/p>\n
Agada, in response, expressed unawareness of the allegations, stating, “I did not want to join issues with Onjeh.”<\/p>\n
However, after thorough deliberation, the APC executives in Ehaje Ward 1 unanimously passed a vote of no confidence in Agada. The suspension, based on APC Constitution provisions, listed seven grounds, including Agada’s failure to appear before the Ward Disciplinary Committee and evidence of working against the party’s interests in the Benue South Senatorial District during the 2023 elections.<\/p>\n
The ward leadership accused Agada of campaigning for the PDP candidate, Sen. Abba Moro, undermining APC supporters, and losing his own polling unit in multiple elections. They also alleged Agada’s attempts to withhold funds provided by the national party for the ward’s logistics and election day activities.<\/p>\n
