Tokunbo Wahab, the Commissioner of Environment and Water Resources in Lagos, has responded to a concerning video depicting the sand filling of a water area for construction purposes in the state.<\/p>\n
The video, shared by the Lagos State Environment Update on Sunday, highlighted the disturbing scene at the back of Lakeview 2 on Orchid Road, Lekki. In the video, a male voice expressed dismay, stating, “See where people are filling. This is at the back of Orchid Road, and this place is supposed to be a canal. People have started filling it so that they can build another house and block the water from flowing.”<\/p>\n
The narrator continued to voice concern, emphasizing the potential negative impact on water flow and suggesting the government’s intervention. He added, “I think the government needs to look into this; this is not acceptable as it is going to block the water from flowing. This is at the back of Lakeview 2.”<\/p>\n
In response, Commissioner Wahab asserted that the construction is clearly illegal and reassured that the Lagos State Government would take appropriate action.
