Philip Aivoji, the chairman of of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos has been released after spending four days in the custody of kidnappers<\/p>\n
Alhaji Hakeem Amode, the Lagos State PDP Publicity Secretary confirmed the release of Aivoji on Monday morning.<\/p>\n
The abductors had earlier contacted Aivoji\u2019s family, demanding for a N200m ransom to set him free.<\/p>\n
But Amode would not confirm whether or not there was any payment before his release.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe use this opportunity to appreciate your prayers; and to thank you all for your concerns and prayers,\u201d Amode said.<\/p>\n
Aivoji was kidnapped on Thursday at Ogere area of Ogun on the Ibadan-Lagos expressway<\/p>\n
The party chairman was returning from the PDP South-West zonal meeting in Ibadan, Oyo State on Thursday.<\/p>\n
The party thanked security agencies and government authorities that facilitated his freedom.<\/p>\n
Aivoji was abducted by unknown kidnappers last Thursday, Jan. 25 at about 6.00 p.m. on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway while returning from a stakeholders meeting in Oyo State convened by Gov. Seyi Makinde and Gov. Ademola Adeleke of Osun.<\/p>\n
While announcing the abduction of the Lagos PDP Chairman, Amode said, \u201cIt is disheartening that kidnapping has become a prevalent issue in our country, and the government\u2019s inability to address this menace is deeply concerning<\/p>\n
\u201cThe abduction of Aivoji underscores the pressing need for decisive actions from the government and stakeholders to eradicate this menace.<\/p>\n
\u201cAivoji\u2019s abduction was a violent incident, and his current whereabouts or any communication from the abductors remain unknown.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe implore the governments of Oyo State, Ogun, and Lagos State alongside security agencies, to expedite efforts and secure his safe return to his family and well-wishers,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
