The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has officially cited gas constraints as the reason behind the current decline in power generation into the grid. This revelation was made by Ndidi Mbah, TCN\u2019s General Manager of Public Affairs, in a statement released on Thursday, January 25, 2024.<\/p>\n
Mbah explained that the reduction in available generation is primarily due to limitations in the supply of gas to thermal generating companies. Consequently, this has affected the volume of bulk power accessible on the transmission grid, impacting its transmission to distribution load centers nationwide.<\/p>\n
In the statement, TCN emphasized its dedication to maintaining grid stability despite the challenges. The commitment includes collaborative efforts with power sector stakeholders to navigate through the current phase of low power generation.<\/p>\n
Mbah’s statement reads, “TCN is doing everything possible in collaboration with stakeholders in the power sector to ensure that it continues to keep the grid intact inspite of the current low power generated into the system.”<\/p>\n
Acknowledging the decrease in power distributed to distribution load centers, TCN assured consumers of its determination to progressively enhance electricity supply as the gas situation improves, highlighting its commitment to the collaboration for an uninterrupted power supply through distribution companies.<\/p>\n
