The Supreme Court has issued the Certified True Copy (CTC) of its December 15, 2023 judgment affirming the terrorism charges against Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB). The announcement was made on Monday by Barrister Aloy Ejimakor, the special counsel to Nnamdi Kanu.<\/p>\n
In a statement, Ejimakor mentioned, \u201cToday (Monday), the Supreme Court released the CTC of its judgment in \u2018Federal Republic of Nigeria versus Nnamdi Kanu.\u2019 The court also pledged to transmit the case file to the Federal High Court by tomorrow.\u201d<\/p>\n
Earlier, Ejimakor had criticized the delay in releasing the CTC, stating that it violated the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. He emphasized that despite 33 days passing since the Supreme Court’s final judgment on December 15, 2023, the CTC had not been released.<\/p>\n
The Supreme Court, in its December 15, 2023 judgment, ordered the remittance of the case between Nnamdi Kanu and the Nigerian government to the Federal High Court for trial consideration.<\/p>\n
