The Imo Commissioner of Police, Danjuma Aboki, has announced the successful rescue of the kidnapped former chairman of the Imo State Council of Traditional Rulers, Eze Samuel Ohiri. The abduction had occurred approximately two weeks ago when armed individuals invaded the traditional ruler’s palace, coinciding with the state’s celebration of a crime-free Christmas and New Year festivities.<\/p>\n
According to a statement released on Thursday, January 18, by the Police Public Relations Officer of the State Police Command, SP Henry Okoye, the intensive pursuit by law enforcement forces compelled the kidnappers to abandon Eze Ohiri. The traditional ruler was successfully rescued unharmed in an undisclosed forest.<\/p>\n
Okoye shared the update, stating, “Recall the Command has been working assiduously in synergy with other security agencies towards ensuring that Eze Ohiri is released and some arrests have been made. To the glory of God, he has been released, after a hot chase on his kidnappers in the forest by operatives of the Command\u2019s Anti-kidnapping unit.”<\/p>\n
The Commissioner of Police, Danjuma Aboki, reiterated the commitment of the Command to eradicate all forms of violent crimes in the state.
