A socio-cultural group operating under the banner of the Northern Ethnic Groups Assembly (NEYGA) has sounded the alarm regarding what it claims are attempts by certain individuals to implicate the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, in the ongoing financial infractions within the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.<\/p>\n
The coalition asserts that these plotters aim to link Gbajabiamila to the transactions conducted by the suspended Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu, who is currently under investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).<\/p>\n
In response to a leaked memo dated December 18, 2023, from the Office of the Chief of Staff to the President, revealing the approval of N3 billion from the COVID-19 Palliative Fund for the verification of the National Social Register by President Bola Tinubu, NEYGA, in a statement in Abuja, conveyed by spokesperson Ibrahim Dan-Musa, emphasized that the plotters are individuals both within and outside the Presidential Villa.<\/p>\n
According to the group, these alleged plotters, described as hawks, have failed in their scheme against the core of the Tinubu administration. NEYGA posits that the leaked memo is merely an effort by certain individuals, both inside and outside the Villa, to associate Gbajabiamila with the ongoing investigation into Betta Edu’s actions.<\/p>\n
In praising President Bola Tinubu for the suspension of Betta Edu, NEYGA noted that it is now a crucial time for the government to settle down.
