The Federal Government, represented by the Minister of Labour and Employment, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, has expressed its commitment to maintaining a positive relationship with organized labor.<\/p>\n
During separate meetings with the Trade Union Congress (TUC) and the Congress of University Academics (CONUA) in Abuja, the Minister assured the unions that the government is dedicated to fostering a favorable working environment.<\/p>\n
Addressing the TUC leadership, Onyejeocha emphasized the government’s determination to fulfill agreements with trade unions, stating that payments related to the N35,000 wage award are on course.<\/p>\n
She assured the unions that outstanding amounts would be paid soon and emphasized the government’s focus on addressing the issue of a new national minimum wage.<\/p>\n
In response, Comrade Festus Osifo of TUC appreciated the Minister’s visit, highlighting the importance of building trust and mutual understanding between the government and the union.<\/p>\n
He commended the government for steps taken and urged them to fulfill the remaining 20% of an agreement with the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria.<\/p>\n
In a separate meeting with CONUA Chairman Niyi Sunmonu, the Minister reiterated the government’s willingness to collaborate with unions and address their concerns.<\/p>\n
