A tragic incident unfolded along the Olooru-Okoolowo highway in Kwara State on Monday, resulting in a fatal multiple auto crash that claimed the lives of three individuals and left two others injured. The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Kwara State, Stephen Dawulung, confirmed the unfortunate event, stating that the collision, which occurred around 3:15 pm, led to a devastating inferno that engulfed the involved vehicles and a motorcycle.<\/p>\n
Upon receiving the report of the crash, FRSC rescue operatives, in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force and Federal Fire Service, swiftly mobilized to the scene. Their prompt efforts aimed to rescue passengers before the situation escalated into a fire. Preliminary investigations revealed that a vehicle transporting feeds to Lagos collided with an oncoming trailer carrying brewery products while attempting to overtake another vehicle. Subsequently, a tanker loaded with petroleum products, closely following the one transporting brewery products, crashed into the collision, leading to a fire outbreak exacerbated by the presence of flammable substances.<\/p>\n
The resulting inferno consumed three vehicles and a motorcycle caught up in the crash. Out of the five individuals involved, two passengers on the motorcycle sustained injuries and were promptly taken to the General Hospital, Ilorin. Tragically, the remaining three individuals lost their lives as they were engulfed by the flames. The deceased have been identified, and their bodies claimed by their respective relatives.<\/p>\n
