Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, has issued a directive for the distribution of the Anambra State Burial Law booklet to all communities within the state. Emphasizing the importance of awareness and compliance with the burial law, Governor Soludo aims to educate the public on its provisions and avoid contraventions.<\/p>\n
Speaking at the funeral mass of the late Rev. Fr. Prof. Stephen Chukwujekwu at St. Patrick Cathedral, Awka, Governor Soludo highlighted the government’s intention to enforce strict compliance with the burial law. The Anambra State Burial Law, enacted during the administration of Former Governor Willie Obiano, prohibits ostentatious displays of wealth during burials.<\/p>\n
Provisions of the law include bans on serving food at burials, production of voluminous brochures, limiting the duration of events to a single day, and restricting other flamboyant expenditures. Governor Soludo, who adhered to the law during the burial of his late father in December, reiterates the significance of compliance.<\/p>\n
“The distribution of the booklet containing the law’s full details is ongoing in all communities, and I emphasize that its strict enforcement will begin soon,” stated Governor Soludo. He stressed the growing awareness and compliance among Anambra citizens and underscored the importance of respecting laws.
