Falana, in a sternly-worded statement, emphasized that while Edu had not denied authorizing the payment in violation of established regulations, she had yet to apologize to the government and the nation, urging her to resign for breaching the trust placed in her.<\/p>\n
The legal luminary pointed out that despite the intervention of the Accountant-General of the Federation, who effectively prevented the illicit diversion of N585.18 million from the public treasury, Edu’s leaked note indicated an attempt to commit a felony had already taken place.<\/p>\n
President Bola Tinubu, in response to the allegations, has issued a directive for a comprehensive investigation into the payment of the N585.189 million grant intended for vulnerable groups in Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Ogun, and Lagos states, which was reportedly deposited into a private account.<\/p>\n
