The World Athletics has debunked reports that Nigeria\u2019s track queen, Tobi Amusan has been cleared to participate at the forthcoming 2023 World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary.<\/p>\n
Amusan\u2019s name was excluded by Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) from the competition as she is currently under doping investigation by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU).<\/p>\n
Reports surfaced last weekend that the 26-year-old has been cleared to take part at the World Athletics Championships<\/p>\n
But the body has now moved to deny the reports.<\/p>\n
\u201cPlease be advised, reports that say Tobi Amusan has been cleared to compete in Budapest are wrong,\u201d Nicole Jeffery, World Athletics\u2019 Head of Communications said in a statement.<\/p>\n
\u201cNo decision has been made in this case yet. When a decision is made, it will be announced by the Athletics Integrity Unit.\u201d<\/p>\n
It would be recalled that the World Athletics included Amusan\u2019s name on the entry list for the competition published last week but with a provision that her participation would depend on the outcome of the whereabouts failure charge preferred against her by the AIU.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
