The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is calling on President Bola Tinubu to provide a detailed account of the “trillions of naira” saved from the removal of petrol subsidy in the last seven months. The opposition party, in a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Debo Ologunagba, expressed concern over the failure of the federal government to pay workers’ December salaries despite the funds saved from subsidy removal.<\/p>\n

The PDP insisted that the situation supports its assertion that the current administration aims to frustrate and inflict hardships on Nigerians. The party also urged President Tinubu to transparently disclose the distributable statutory revenue, VAT revenue, Electronic Money Transfer Levy Revenue, and Exchange Difference Revenue for December 2023, as reported by the FAAC.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, the PDP demanded the immediate disbursement of the December salary to workers and an additional compensatory payment of at least 50 per cent of their wages to alleviate the economic challenges imposed by the APC-led administration.<\/p>\n

The party emphasized the importance of adhering to constitutional governance and the rule of law, asserting that Nigeria is a federation that must not be governed by the whims of individuals or groups. Criticizing the failure to fulfill salary obligations during the festive season, the PDP deemed it unacceptable and indicative of the administration’s insensitivity to the welfare of Nigerians.<\/p>\n

The statement accused the administration of turning the nation into a metaphorical Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp, leaving millions of Nigerians in a state of hunger and misery.
