President Bola Tinubu and Senator Oluremi Tinubu welcomed Azizat Oshoala, the 2023 CAF Women\u2019s Player of the Year, at their residence in Ikoyi, Lagos. President Tinubu, acknowledging the commendable achievements of the Falcons’ striker, encouraged them to continue bringing pride to the nation. He emphasized the significance of their role in shaping both the present and future of Nigerian football.<\/p>\n

During the meeting at Bourdillon, Ikoyi, the President and his wife reassured Oshoala of the unwavering support from the nation for her and other Nigerian women striving for excellence in their respective fields.<\/p>\n

Senator Oluremi Tinubu took a moment to congratulate Oshoala, who hails from the Barcelona Femeni team, for securing the title of African Female Footballer of the Year for the sixth time. She expressed pride in Oshoala’s accomplishments and the positive representation she brings to Nigerian sports.<\/p>\n

In response to the warm reception, Oshoala thanked the President and the First Lady for the opportunity to present the award to them. She recalled her recognition as a footballer at the Muniru Muse Football Competition, organized by Senator Oluremi Tinubu during her time at the Senate.<\/p>\n

Oshoala acknowledged the intervention and support of President Tinubu and his wife during past challenges faced by the national team, particularly during the last World Cup.
