Several proprietors of recreational centers and beer joints within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have expressed high drop in their business operations and turnout of customers.
\nWhile speaking with our correspondent on Thursday they attributed the decline to the escalating cost of living in the country.
\nThese business owners, who shared their concerns during separate interviews with in Abuja, highlighted that the removal of fuel subsidy has been a catalyst for the dare situation.<\/p>\n
The operators further noted that the removal of the subsidy has prompted numerous clients to curtail their spending on leisure activities, including alcohol consumption. Our correspondent, who conducted a weekend survey of various recreation spots in the FCT, observed a noticeable decline in customer patronage.<\/p>\n
Chibuzo Nzewata, the proprietor of a recreation spot in Garki, expressed his worries about the decline in business activity, attributing the reduced patronage to the absence of fuel subsidy. Nzewata emphasized a significant challenge stemming from inadequate power supply by the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company saying that relying on generators throughout operating hours is detrimental to business growth.<\/p>\n
According to Nzewata, although customers still visit the establishment, the profit margin has experienced a slight downturn due to the escalating operational costs.
