Amidst the intense political clash between the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, and the incumbent Governor Siminalye Fubara, Wike issues a cautionary message to politicians, advising them against dismantling the very platforms that elevated them to positions of prestige.

The ongoing dispute revolves around control of the political structure in the oil-rich state, with the state legislature already factionalized, adding a dangerous dimension to the situation.

Wike, addressing traditional leaders during a visit from Ogbaland, stressed the importance of preserving the platforms used for political ascent. He cautioned against pulling down the ladder used for climbing, emphasizing the need to leave it for others.

The feud has escalated to the resignation of nine commissioners believed to be loyal to the former governor, deepening the crisis. However, Wike assured the traditional leaders that he and his team would pursue peace, rejecting violence as a solution to political differences.

Dismissing claims of ethnic coloration in the crisis, Wike emphasized that the March 18 election was based on unity rather than ethnicity. He concluded by drawing parallels between politics and traditional institutions, emphasizing the importance of adhering to rules within political groups.
