Babangida pleaded guilty to charges of impersonation, criminal intimidation, and extortion, seeking leniency from the court.<\/p>\n<p>Expressing remorse, Babangida said, &#8220;Please forgive me, my lord. I plead for mercy, sir. I will not commit any crime again.&#8221; The Area Court judge, Saminu Suleiman, provided an alternative of a N6,000 fine, cautioning the convict to abstain from criminal activities post-punishment.<\/p>\n<p>The prosecution, led by Mr. Chinedu Ogada, informed the court that the complainant, Usman Zaiyanu, reported the incident on Nov. 11 at Zuba Police Station. According to Ogada, the convict, on the same date around 9:30 pm, falsely identified himself as a military officer at Zuba Tomato Junction. Babangida then criminally threatened and robbed the complainant of his cell phone and N10,000 in cash.
