The Federal Government has granted authority for universities, polytechnics, colleges of education, and other tertiary institutions to be exempt from the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS) in a key decision. Mohammed Idris, Minister of Information and National Orientation, made the news following this week’s Federal Executive Council meeting in Abuja.<\/p>\n
Minister Idris emphasized that remunerations to staff members of these institutions will no longer be processed through the IPPIS platform. The decision reflects the government’s recognition of the need to afford tertiary institutions the freedom to manage their affairs independently.<\/p>\n
Explaining the development, Minister Idris stated, “Today, the universities and other tertiary institutions have gotten a very big relief from the integrated personnel payroll and information system. You will recall that the university authorities and others have been calling for the exemption of universities and other tertiary institutions from this system. Today, the Council has graciously approved that.”<\/p>\n
