President Bola Tinubu disclosed this pivotal investment after a meeting with Shell representatives in Nigeria.<\/p>\n<p>Tinubu emphasized the resolve to overcome investment-related challenges, stating, &#8220;There is no bottleneck that is too difficult for us to remove in our determined march toward making Nigeria the African haven for large-scale investment in all key sectors. We need each other.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Zoe Yujnovich, Shell&#8217;s Director for Global Integrated Gas and Upstream, shared insights into the company&#8217;s strategic shift, focusing resources on the deepwater and gas sectors. Yujnovich outlined Shell&#8217;s dedication to developing the gas value chain in Nigeria, including a substantial commitment of $1 billion over the next five to ten years.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, Yujnovich announced an imminent $5 billion investment opportunity in the Bonga North project, situated in the deep waters off Nigeria&#8217;s shores. This budget surpasses initial estimates and is up from an earlier figure of nearly $3 billion, according to the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB).<\/p>\n<p>Nigeria has set an ambitious target of over $50 billion worth of oil development projects in the next five years. The projects, discussed at the Nigerian Oil and Gas Opportunity Fair, involve participation from international and local companies, including Shell and the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Ltd. (NNPC).<\/p>\n<p>Shell&#8217;s commitment to the Bonga oil field projects, including Bonga Southwest and Bonga North, aligns with the company&#8217;s pledge to continue investing in gas and oil.
