Justice Tsoho shared insights into the court’s performance in the previous legal year, noting that out of the 15,025 cases filed, 12,870 were effectively disposed of, leaving 2,155 suits unresolved. He further disclosed that the court had carried over 142,755 cases from the 2021 legal year, and in the current legal year, an additional 15,025 fresh cases were filed by litigants.<\/p>\n

The breakdown of pending cases includes 42,784 civil cases, 36,061 criminal matters, 41,447 motions, and 24,618 fundamental rights enforcement suits, presenting a diverse array of legal issues for the court to address.<\/p>\n

Despite the daunting caseload, Justice Tsoho expressed optimism, emphasizing the commitment of the judges to rise to the challenge and diligently work towards the prompt resolution of these cases. He acknowledged the current bench strength of 95 judges and commended their efficient handling of pre-election cases related to the 2023 general elections.<\/p>\n
