The Vice-Chancellor of Fountain University, Professor Olayinka Karim disclosed that all academic programmes offered in the institution have secured full accreditation status from the National Universities Commission (NUC) and their respective professional bodies.
According to the Vice-Chacellor, the private university has also implemented CCMAS-FUO in guideline with NUC Core Curriculum Minimum Academic Standards (CCMAS) announced last year to bring necessary innovations into the content and delivery of its programmes towards achieving the overall goals of education and training in the country.
The Vice-Chancellor of the private institution made the disclosure during a press briefing on the 13th Convocation Ceremony of Fountain University held at the school’s College of Art Complex on Monday.
“Following a special visitation in June 2023, NUC granted full accreditation to all four programmes in the College of Basic Medical and Health Sciences (COBMEHS) (Nursing Science, Medical Laboratory Science, Environmental Science, and Public Health). Notably, the Nursing Science programme received accreditation with an increased quota from the Nursing and Midwifery Council for the next five years. Additionally, the Medical Laboratory Science programme obtained accreditation from the Medical Laboratory Council of Nigeria, solidifying the endorsement of both NUC and their professional bodies.
Furthermore, she said that on October 31, 2023, the NUC officially approved the commencement of 11 undergraduate and eight postgraduate programmes including cutting-edge B.Sc. Electronics and Computer Science, B.Sc. Electronics and Communications, and B.Sc. Criminology and Security Studies for the institution.
“The postgraduate programmes encompass M.Sc. & Ph.D. programmes in Accounting, Political Science, Computer Science, and Public Administration.
“In November 2023, the College of Arts secured resource approval from the NUC, enabling the initiation of programmes such as B.A. English, History and International Relations, Linguistics,. French, Arabic, and Islamic Studies—a response to community demand for an Islamic faith-based University.
“The National Board of Arabic, Islamic and International Studies (NBAIS) endorsed the Diploma in Arabic, Islamic, and International Studies.”
