Veteran Hollywood actor John Amos, best known for his iconic roles in Coming to America and Good Times, has died at the age of 84.
His son, Kelly Christopher Amos, confirmed the news in a statement on Tuesday, announcing that the beloved actor passed away from natural causes on August 21.
“It is with heartfelt sadness that I share with you the passing of my father. He was a man with the kindest heart, full of generosity, and was cherished by many around the world,” Kelly said. “To many fans, he was their TV father. His legacy will continue to live on through his remarkable work in television and film.”
