Persons suspected to be herdsmen have again macheted three farmers in Irele-Ekiti, Ikole Local Government Area of Ekiti State.

The incident followed closely on the heels of gruesome murder of two farmers in Isaba-Ekiti, Ikole Local Government Area of Ekiti State. The duo were brutally matchetted.

It was learnt the assailants, numbering about six, invaded the farm settlement in the early hours of Tuesday and macheted the three farmers, who are females.

The herdsmen were said to be infuriated when the women refused their financial requests and attempts to molest them.

The women's refusal led to their being brutally attacked with machets by the suspected herders.

Confirming the incident, the Ekiti State Police PRO, ASP Sunday Abutu, said investigations had begun in a bid to arrest the perpetrators.

Abutu spoke: “Yes, we got the report this morning that three persons were attacked and I can tell you that they are responding to treatment in the hospital.

“We have commenced investigation into the attack and the criminals will soon be arrested.”
